The Billing and Licensing Department bills and collects utility service fees and business taxes for the City of Franklin. This department has 13 full-time positions.
Water/Wastewater, Sanitation & Environmental Services, and Stormwater bills are issued monthly to about 19,000 households and businesses. Additionally, the City provides wastewater, trash, and stormwater services for approximately 10,500 customers who receive water from three other utility districts. The department issues business licenses for businesses operating in Franklin. Business tax filings and tax payments were made by roughly 4,500 businesses totaling $5.4 million in FY2019. In accordance with state law, an annual business tax is due and payable to the State of Tennessee. Go to our Business License page for more information.
Also, the office issues beer permits, yard sale permits, and sells compost vouchers.
The Williamson County Trustee's Office bills and collects property taxes for the City of Franklin. Property tax billings for 2019 include approximately 33,000 parcels (real and personal), totaling $21.7 million.
