The Adams Street water and sewer improvements project includes the replacement of the water and sanitary sewer lines along Adams Street from Carolyn Avenue to the intersection of E Fowlkes/Lewisburg Avenue.
June/July 2024
SBW Constructors has completed the water and sanitary sewer portion of the project. Atmos Energy is still installing natural gas services. Once those are complete Adams Street will be paved.
May 2024
The Adams Street water and sewer improvements project has reached substantial completion. That means that the water and sanitary sewer lines are installed and are in use. City staff conducted a substantial completion walk through on June 5, 2024, and compiled a punch list of items that the contractor needs to address to finish out the project. Atmos Energy is still working on the natural gas line. Once the gas installation is complete the City of Franklin will pave Adams Street.
April 2024
The contractor has completed the water line installation and will begin tying the new water lines into the existing system the week of May 14th. There will be road closures during this time as well as periods without water. Local traffic will still be allowed and the outage times should be short. Please call the Water Management Department at (615) 794-4554 if you have any issues with your water or questions.
Atmos Energy is still working on the new natural gas lines on Adams Street. Their current completion time frame extends into August, which means the paving of Adams Street will not begin until that time.
March 2024
The contractor has completed the sanitary sewer portion of the project from Lewisburg Avenue to Carolyn Avenue and over half of the water line has also been installed. Atmos Energy has begun installation of the new natural gas line.
Paving will commence once Atmos Energy is complete with their gas line installation.
January 2024/February 2024
The first of the year kicked off with SBW beginning construction of the water line. They started at the Adams Street/Lewisburg Ave intersection. Originally, they had planned to finish the sanitary sewer installation to Carolyn Avenue, the end of the project, and then begin the water line work at Carolyn. An opportunity to have another crew onsite became available and in hopes to finish the project early, the contractor requested to start the water line installation early and on the opposite end of the project than they had planned. This has required there to be 4 crews onsite – 1 for the sanitary sewer main, 1 for the sanitary sewer services, 1 for the water line installation and 1 for the water line services. Larger sections of Adams Street have been closed because of this many areas under construction. Currently SBW has installed the sanitary sewer main from Adams Court to Generals Retreat Place and the water line has been installed to Jennings Street.
November 2023/December 2023 Update
There has been quite a bit of progress on the sanitary sewer main line along Adams Street in the months of November and December. November saw 3 more manholes installed, 366 linear feet of 8-inch sewer and 13 sanitary sewer service laterals. SBW hit rock about 120 linear feet from the intersection of Stewart and Cleburne but pushed on and got through the intersection after Thanksgiving.
In December there were 3 more manholes, 702 linear feet of 8-inch sewer and 9 sanitary sewer service laterals installed along Adams Street. SBW has finished installing the main and most of the services past Adams Court.
October 2023 Update
SBW Constructors, the contractor for the Adams Street Water and Sewer improvements project, started work on the sanitary sewer at the north end of the project on October 2, 2023. They are continuing the sanitary sewer construction south, installing 2 manholes, approximately 533 feet of 8-inch sanitary sewer and 7 sewer services. Please contact Patricia McNeese at patricia.mcneese@franklintn.gov if you have any questions or comments concerning the project.
September/October 2023 Update
The contractor has provided the City with the submittals for materials and structures for both water and sanitary sewer. These submittals have been approved and the contractor has ordered the materials. Work will begin at Lewisburg/Adams Street/E Fowlkes starting on Monday, October 2, 2023.
