Franklin, TN – Six Franklin Police Officers left for Alabama Sunday and are providing authorities in Tuscaloosa with assistance today. The recent storms that brought widespread death and destruction to the region has taxed local resources where area police officers have worked around the clock since Wednesday. Sergeants Eric Anderson and David Prather, along with Detective Chad Pace, and Officers Carlos Martin, Jim Gibson, and Ben Jones have assisted with a variety of police services after arriving in Tuscaloosa last night.
“Pictures just don’t do justice to what the wide-spread devastation actually looks like from here,” said Sergeant Anderson. Sergeant David Prather said, “Being here, and helping to provide even a little relief to brothers and sisters in blue who are serving their community in spite of their own personal losses is an honor – it’s just what you do.”
Interim Police Chief David Rahinsky said, “Sending resources to an area in such need does not just benefit Tuscaloosa, it benefits us as well. The six officers there will bring back with them first-hand experience at dealing with the aftermath of deadly storms – storms that could have just as easily struck here.” The six officers will return to Franklin later this week.
