A Springfield man is free on bond after a ‘parking lot rage’ incident landed him in jail for aggravated assault.

Officers were summoned to Hardee’s, 1315 Murfreesboro Rd, at 9:47 Monday morning to investigate a man with a gun call. During their investigation, officers determined that 34-year-old Joseph Evans pulled a pistol on another drive-thru customer during a heated verbal altercation. During the exchange, Evans got out of his car and, with a gun in his hand, approached the victim in a threatening manner. Evans, charged with Aggravated Assault, is free on a $15,000 bond. He is due in court on 12/11/2014 at 1:00pm.

Irrational drivers who turn their aggression into a violent encounter in Franklin will simply not be tolerated. If convicted, Evans could face up to 6 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000. If you are confronted with violence on the street or in a parking lot, the best way to protect yourself and your family is to lock your doors and drive away from the danger while calling 911.
