Williamson County School in Franklin Evacuated Following Social Media Bomb Threat

Post Date:02/06/2015 11:00 AM

This morning, the Franklin Police Department was alerted to a Twitter post, directed to the Westhaven community, that referenced ‘blowing up the school tomorrow.’ The post was made at approximately 6pm yesterday, and no particular school was mentioned. Franklin Police were informed of the threat this morning and began immediately investigating.

Police have determined that the person who tweeted the threat to Westhaven tweeted a similar threat to a school in Pennsylvania that did not come to fruition. Police contacted the PA law enforcement agency investigating that threat, and immediately briefed SROs in Franklin.

Franklin Police and the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office are working together to confirm that Pearre Creek Elementary School in the Westhaven subdivision is safe. In an abundance of caution, children and staff at that school have been moved to a secondary location while officers conduct a sweep of the school.

More information will be released as it becomes available.
