Leaf Season Special Announcement:
On Friday, 11/22, we will begin picking up in the Green Zone in order to help reduce leaf volume during the short Thanksgiving holiday week. Please be aware that we will rerun those routes during 11/25-11/27.
This week is Orange Zone pickup week.
Below you will find Leaf Season dates and process information that you need to know for the 2024/2025 Leaf Season.
Leaf Season began the week of October 7th and ends the week of January 6th.
Please make sure your leaves are ready for pickup by 7:00am on your assigned week. They will be picked up at any point Monday through Friday on your assigned week, except for holidays.
You may also choose to continue bagging your yard waste in biodegradable brown bags and place it at your curb with your trash on your regularly scheduled trash day if you prefer.
See below for the leaf season schedule.
Your Leaf Zones will continue to be the Orange Zone and the Green Zone.
Pick-up will continue to be done on a bi-weekly basis.
Due to inclement weather events we may have to skip your pick-up on a given week.

Remember these rules when placing your leaves out for collection:
1) Leaves must be placed in the front of your home. (We do not pick up leaves from the side of corner lot homes.)
2) Place leaves in the grass strip area along the curb
3) Place leaves at least ten feet (10') between your mailbox or any other objects such as vehicles or motorcycles
4) If no grass strip area is present, place the leaves as close to the street as possible
5) Do not place leaves within five feet (5') of a stormwater drain
6) Please ensure that your leaves are free of debris, i.e. sticks, rocks, foreign objects like pumpkins or bricks, etc.
7) We no longer collect leaves from alleyways as this has been deemed unsafe for our trucks, drivers, and our citizens in some locations around the city. We apologize for the inconvenience, but all residents will need to rake their leaves to the street-side of your property.
If any of these rules were not observed, your leaves may not have been picked up due safety concerns for workers, equipment, citizens', and their property.
If you have any questions or comments about how the changes to leaf season worked this year, please email us at: leafcollection@franklintn.gov . We are collecting your concerns for our planning sessions for the next season.
