The Franklin Police Department Records Section is located in the main lobby of Police Headquarters at 900 Columbia Avenue. Free parking is available on the south side of the building adjacent to Plaza Street.

You can obtain a collision report at any of the three websites below:

1. City of Franklin – free, emailed to you
2. PurchaseTNCrash.gov – costs $10, PDF download
3. CrashDocs.org – costs $10, third-party website

Alarm Permits

City code requires that any business or residence with an alarm system obtain a permit. The permit fee is $30 and expire yearly on December 31. The renewal fee is $15. The application or renewal of alarm can be completed at the link below, sent via mail, or done in person.

Fingerprinting

The Franklin Police Department does not fingerprint, but the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office does. It is offered every Tuesday and Thursday, excluding holidays, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. For more information, visit the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office website.

Background Checks/Investigations

Request through the City of Franklin website for background investigations of incidents occurring only within the city limits of Franklin.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation offers citizens the ability to request criminal background checks that encompass the entire state of Tennessee for a fee of $29. Visit the TBI's website to obtain a Tennessee adult criminal history. For more information, call the TBI at (615) 744-4000.

The FBI allows individuals to obtain their own nationwide criminal record for a $45 fee. For more information on this option, call (877) 783-4187.

What do I need to make a payment for the drug fund?

You will need a valid ID, court paperwork stating the amount owed, and payment in the form of cashier’s check or money order. The Franklin Police Department does not accept payments in cash, card, or personal check.
