The City of Franklin has over 700 acres of parklands and structures to maintain and prepare for use each day. The employees are dedicated to this enterprise as demonstrated by the City’s 16 beautiful Park Facilities.
The Parks Department includes the following Divisions: Administration, Athletics, Facilities, Grounds, Landscape, Maintenance, Programming & Urban Forestry.
The Administration Division is responsible for the management, purchasing, oversight and scheduling of all of the Divisions within the Parks System.
The Athletics Division prepares all the athletic fields for play including lining the fields, over-seeding, mowing, dragging, setting bases, lighting, dethatching, fencing and top dressing. All tennis court or sport field rentals are scheduled through the Athletics Division.
The Facilities Division is in charge of all the buildings, pavilions, sanitation, inventory, warehousing and event preparations.
The Grounds Division is responsible for the maintenance, mowing, and trimming of all lawns in the park system.
The Landscape Division is responsible for all the planter beds, chemical applications, mulching, and plant maintenance and shrubbery throughout each park.
The Maintenance Division is charged with all the building and park maintenance, construction, painting, plumbing, woodworking, concrete, electrical and heavy equipment operations.
The Program Division is responsible for all facility rentals and special event permits, department events, the Parks Program Guide, advertising, marketing, Public Service Announcements and park use calendars.
The Urban Forestry Division manages, maintains, removes, plants, inventories and otherwise cares for all the trees on public lands and enforces and advises on the urban forest within the city boundaries.
