Parks Director, Lisa Clayton

Lisa came to the City of Franklin Parks Department in April of 2002 from Jonesborough, TN to lead the organization as Parks Director. She is responsible for Franklin Parks' leadership, administration and management of its career and seasonal employees. She has twenty years experience in parks, natural resource and recreation management with major accomplishments in strategic planning, organizational and employee development, fiscal management, facility improvements, community relations and customer service.

Prior to her seventeen years as the Director of Parks for Franklin, she led the park and recreation department in the Town of Jonesborough, TN. She is originally a native from Historic Abbeville, SC.  Lisa has a bachelor's degree in Physical Education and a master’s degree in Sports Management. Lisa has served on the State of Tennessee Recreation and Parks Association Board for the past eight years and President in 2007.

The Franklin Parks Department is an organization rich in leadership and takes initiative at all levels. The Department strives for personal and professional growth, approaches business with a high degree of reality and objectivity, and constantly evolves in a way that creates long term economic sustainability for the overall parks system of Franklin. Reflecting on her achievements in city parks... Lisa says  "For me, it’s not a question of serving…it’s my passion!"

The City of Franklin’s Parks Department is committed to improve, preserve, protect and maintain all of the public parks and our offices are located at Jim Warren Park at 705 Boyd Mill Avenue.  The goal of City of Franklin’s Parks Department is to provide a diverse and quality system of parks, recreation facilities, greenways and public open spaces that contributes to and enhances the environmental character of the community.

Parks are an essential component of Franklin’s quality of life. The Parks Department is committed to providing cost effective and efficient facilities, well planned and maintained parks and greenways, and providing quality programs.

The Department also partners with community organizations, schools, local businesses, advisory and policy bodies and other City departments to ensure a thoughtful response to community interests.
