The Fish

The Parks Department stocked the Pond at The Park at Harlinsdale Farm with hatchlings of Blue Gill, Grass Carp, and Catfish. The fish have acclimated to their new home are ready for catching. In the winter of 2010 we expected to stock largemouth bass  but the floods interrupted that intention and as a consequence we now have bass too, thanks to the Harpeth River overflow.  

Remember, the Pond is a CATCH AND RELEASE ONLY fishing area and all fishermen must have a valid Tennessee State Fishing License.

The Harpeth River and Spencer Creek are regulated and managed by the State of Tennessee. All state regulations apply. Our park rules are posted below.

The Rules

• Current Tennessee State Fishing License Required.

• Catch & Release Only.

• Swimming, bathing or wading - prohibited.

• The following activities are prohibited:

    -Open fires, drugs, alcohol or weapons

    -Motorized watercraft, rafts, tubes or boats.

    -Throwing of any objects into pond.

• Children under the age of 12 years are NOT allowed near the lake without adult supervision.

• Respect and protect wildlife and natural features. No feeding of waterfowl.

• No glass containers. Please dispose of trash in receptacles.

• Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times and are not permitted in the water.

• Fish may be caught with a hook and line only, no net fishing.

The Water

The Pond contains EFFLUENT water and that means it is NOT DRINKABLE or suitable for SWIMMING. The City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant supplies the effluent water (final processed water from the plant) to the pond as part of our storm water control system. The State of Tennessee defines it as this “is water without restrictions with the exception that it cannot be for human consumption”. Typical uses are for lawn watering, golf courses and nurseries.
