- You need smoke alarms on every level of your home, in every bedroom, and outside every sleeping area.

Carbon Monoxide Alarms
- Carbon monoxide is called the invisible killer because you cannot see it or smell it. CO alarms are designed to sound before potentially life-threatening levels of carbon monoxide are reached.
- You need carbon monoxide alarms on every level of your home if you have gas-fueled or wood-burning appliances. To learn more click HERE.
Free Alarm Installation Program
Free alarms may be available if you meet some of these criteria:
- You live in the City of Franklin. (If you live outside the city click HERE to find your fire department.)
- You own and live in the home for which you are requesting alarms.
- Your home was built before 1990.
- Your home does not have adequate smoke alarm coverage.
- You are deaf or hard of hearing.
- You cannot afford to purchase alarms on your own.
Alarms are not guaranteed. We don't always have alarms available. This is an alarm installation program only. Alarms are NOT handed out. Firefighters install free alarms in homes to ensure proper placement. We do not install hardwired alarms.
