SMOKE ALARMS: Make them WORK for you!
Fire Helmet Shield Design Contest for Grades K-8: Create a fire helmet shield that illustrates the 2024 Fire Prevention Week theme, “Smoke alarms: Make them work for you!” The Grand Prize Winner will receive a $100 Visa gift card, and their artwork will be made into a real fire helmet shield! Nine First Place Winners (one per grade) will receive a $50 Visa gift card. Learn more here!
Open House/Kick-off Event, September 7: Mark your calendars for our Open House and Fire Prevention Week Kick-off Event on Saturday, September 7th, at Station 2, from 10 AM to noon. The event will include a 9/11 remembrance with a combined Honor Guard from FFD, FPD and WCSO, bagpipes, and the Legacy Middle School Band. It will be followed by a live burn demonstration from the Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office. Finally, it will feature a wet down ceremony for new Engine 2! Atmos Energy will be grilling out and there will be ice cream from the Friends’ Treat Truck. View the event flyer here! CoolSprings Galleria, October 7-11: Firefighters from Franklin and Brentwood will be at the mall from 10 AM to 6 PM to answer your fire safety questions in person! Stop by our booth on the lower level by Belk and the indoor play area.
Williamson County Public Library, October 8 and October 10: Meet Franklin Firefighters who will be special guest readers and demonstrate their firefighting gear. Then head out to the parking lot for the opportunity to touch a fire truck immediately following story time! There will be two separate, 30-minute presentations, with the first beginning at 10 AM and the second at 10:45 AM. Stop by the Children's Department anytime during the entire month of October to pick up FREE giveaways from the Franklin Fire Department, including storybooks and plastic fire hats!
