The City of Franklin has an investment policy that is patterned after the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) model policy.

City of Franklin Investment Policy

The CFO, Comptroller, and principal investment officer oversee the policy and reports to the Budget and Finance Committee. Most investments are extremely short-term due to the tax collection cycle; however some investments of reserve funds can extend to forty-eight months (4 years). Idle funds are normally invested in the Certificates of Deposit, collateralized bank accounts, Government Agency Bonds or the Tennessee Local Government Investment Pool.

The City also places funds by bid when rates are favorable.
