Franklin, TN – Franklin Police responded to a one car crash on Cool Springs Boulevard near Aspen Grove this afternoon shortly after 1:00 pm. Arriving officers found that the driver was in need of medical attention and called paramedics. While investigating, officers learned that the driver, a 27-year old mother, lost the ability to maintain control of her vehicle during an unexpected medical emergency.
After the vehicle ran over a street sign, the woman’s 12-year-old son acted quickly to bring the car to a stop by activating the emergency brake. Officers estimate that the vehicle traveled approximately 50 feet after striking the sign before coming to a stop, thanks to the little boy. The woman’s 10-year-old son was also in the car at the time of the crash.
No one was injured; the driver, however, was taken to an area hospital for evaluation. The quick thinking of the driver’s son brought this dangerous situation in heavy lunchtime traffic safely to an end.
