Franklin, TN – A Franklin man was arrested with a stolen handgun Friday night at the carnival in the parking lot of the Cool Springs Galleria mall.
On 5/21/2010 just after 9:30 p.m., Franklin Police were summoned by alert citizens to the carnival where two large groups were arguing with one another. During the investigation, officers found 25-year-old Jose Castro to be in possession of a loaded handgun, which was determined to be stolen from Ripley, Tennessee. “I am appalled that someone would bring a loaded gun to a family venue, like a carnival. Alert citizens aided greatly in preventing a potential crime and removing a deadly weapon from the streets,” said Officer Brandon Sandrell. Assistant Police Chief David Rahinsky added, “Citizens who are not afraid to get involved and a responsive police department are a winning combination.”
Jose Daniel Castro
Date of Birth: 11/09/1984
