Franklin, TN – As you’re making your Christmas list and checking it twice, Franklin Firefighters are hoping you’ll consider adding a gift for a Williamson County child in need.
The Franklin Firefighters 6th Annual Toy and Clothing Drive kicked off this week, with the gift requests of more than 350 local children adorning the Christmas fire hydrant displays outside every Franklin Fire Station and Franklin City Hall.
Franklin Fire Captain Clay Mackey said the toy and clothing drive has provided coats, clothes, shoes and toys to more than 300 children each year since 2008.
“Our goal from the start has been to make a difference in our community by providing for those who might need a little help,” said Mackey.
He said the children are identified by the Williamson County Chapter of the Boys and Girls Club of Middle Tennessee, which works with other charities to prevent duplication of efforts.
To participate, select a gift request card from a Christmas fire hydrant display outside any of Franklin’s six fire stations or Franklin City Hall. Purchase the single requested item on the gift tag. Return the new, unwrapped gift with the attached tag to a fire station or City Hall by December 10.
Monetary donations may also be made to Franklin Firefighters Charities and are accepted at Franklin Fire Administration in City Hall or Avenue Bank. All contributions are tax deductible.
Firefighters and volunteers will wrap the gifts and prepare them for distribution at two Christmas parties, which will take place December 20.
