Franklin, TN – Officers during yesterday’s joint operation checked 158 home and work addresses of the 145 registered sex offenders who live or work in Williamson County; 97 of them were verified as being in compliance. Further investigations are being conducted to verify compliance by 29 offenders, and officers have identified 19 possible violations.

Of 19 possible violations, two were in Franklin; they were for not reporting a change in residency or employment. The remaining 17 are being forwarded to the law enforcement agencies responsible for monitoring the suspected out-of-compliance offenders. Detectives in Franklin are forwarding that information to the Maury, Monroe, Sumner, Marshall, and Rutherford County Sheriff’s Departments, TN Parole and Probation, and the Metro-Nashville, Hohenwald, and Ashland City Police Departments, today. No one was arrested during yesterday’s operation.

Greater Williamson Police Team Up, to Check Up
Operation Raven Checked in on 145 Registered Sex Offenders

Released October 2, 2013: Franklin, TN – Law enforcement officers from seven agencies briefed this afternoon at Franklin Police Headquarters before teaming up and heading out to check on the 145 registered sex offenders who reside or work in Williamson County . Participating law enforcement agencies included:

• Franklin Police Department
• Williamson County Sheriff’s Department
• Spring Hill Police Department
• Tennessee Bureau of Investigation
• TN Probation and Parole
• US Marshals
• US Secret Service

The #1 priority of “Operation Raven” was to verify residency and employment compliance for registered sex offenders who live or work in Williamson County. “Compliance checks, like this, help to verify statutorily required compliance with Tennessee’s Sex Offender Registry,” said Franklin Police Chief David Rahinsky. "Random, unannounced compliance checks help to ensure that the registry is working to protect and inform members of our communities. Today’s teamwork should make the collective commitment of area law enforcement to today’s task at hand readily apparent.”

Information regarding violations and arrests resulting from today’s operation will be made available in a follow-up release by noon, Thursday.
