The City of Franklin has nine volunteers who serve on the Sustainability Commission. The Commission serves as a policy advisory board to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen with a focus on energy, waste reduction, and transportation and mobility. 

The Commission typically meets on the second Friday of each month at 8:00 AM in the Franklin City Hall Training Room. The agenda packets are posted on the City's website in advance of the meeting. Please send questions or comments to andrew.orr@franklintn.gov

PLANAPALOOZA--Zoning Ordinance Update

  • Introduction: The City of Franklin is undergoing a significant update to the Zoning Ordinance.

Town Planning and Urban Design Collaborative LLC (TPUDC) has been hired by the City to help with the Zoning Ordinance update (Zone Franklin) and will be facilitating the following sessions to obtain input from the community. All events are open to the public and the times are listed below.  

 •Tuesday, February 19th at  6:00 PM – Presentation Kickoff & Citizen Input Workshop to follow (City Hall Training Room). 

•Wednesday, February 20th -- Roundtable Discussions (City Hall Training Room):
•8:30 am -- 9:30 am:   Future of Cool Springs
•10:00 am – 11:00 am:  Open Spaces and Natural Resources
•12:00 pm – 1:00 pm:  Architecture and Design
•3:30 pm – 4:30 pm:  Connectivity
•5:00 pm – 6:00 pm:  Housing and Neighborhoods

*The design studio will be open from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. 

•Thursday, February 21st (Morning activities will be in City Hall Board Room)
•8:30 am – 9:30 am Roundtable Discussion on Downtown Franklin
*The Design Studio will be open until 9:00 PM and drop-ins are welcome
•Friday, February 22nd Work-In-Progress Presentation starts at 3:00 PM and will end at 5:00 PM (City Hall Training Room).
