INCIDENT AT FORT GRANGER

Pull-Tight is working together with the Franklin City Parks Department to present a special free one-day-only performance of “Incident at Fort Granger,” on November 8, at 3:00 p.m., on the back porch of the Eastern Flank Events Facility next to Carnton Plantation.   Attendees should bring folding chairs or blankets to sit on to enjoy this 1-1/2 hour production, and they are advised to dress warmly.                                

Even a one-day-only free production requires rehearsal, as all theatre people know, so the cast has been rehearsing at community rooms at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and the Fountains of Franklin.  

Written by former Franklin resident Bob Holladay, and directed by Peggy Macpherson, “Incident at Fort Granger” is a true story from Franklin’s history, and features Vince Cusomato, Jeanne Drone, Ron Geagan and Nelson Bryan as the four Watchers.  The Union soldiers at the fort are played by Jim Anderson, John Fraser, Jerry Sharber, Stan Ferguson, Jake Cannon, Jonathan Wilson, Hanes Sparkman, and Mike Foster.  Generals Rosecrans and Garfield in Murfreesboro are played by Bill Jones and Mark Hartzog.  The two Visitors to the fort are Preston Crook and Hunter Mason.  

This play has been performed by Pull-Tight many times since 1998, and many of the cast have performed  in it multiple times — sometimes in different roles.  It has been done  on the Pull-Tight stage, outdoors at Carton, and on the lawn of Tudor Place in Georgetown, Washington DC in 2001.  Last year, on the 150th anniversary of the incident, it was performed on the grounds of  Fort Granger.
