Tree Lighting Ceremony
The Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held on Thursday, November 29th at 6:00 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by the Liberty Elementary School chorus, under the direction of Ms. Lauren Ramey.
Three very special guests are expected to be at the ceremony. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on hand to help Mayor Ken Moore flip the switch on the 28-ft tree. They will also be available for pictures after the ceremony. Buddy Blue Bag will also be at the Ceremony to remind our citizens to have a “Blue Christmas.” Much of the trash people throw away during the holidays could easily be recycled in the City’s Blue Bag Curbside Recycling program. Buddy wants everyone to know that wrapping paper, cardboard boxes, plastic, and cans are all recyclable.
“The Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony continues to be a favorite event for the community every year,” stated Eric Stuckey, City Administrator. “It’s a wonderful way to kick-off the holiday season.”
The next scheduled community holiday event, the Franklin Christmas Parade, will be held on December 1st at 2 p.m. The Parade travels down Hwy 96 W to Third Avenue and proceeds down Main Street to West Main Street and ends at Jim Warren Park. For more information on the parade, or to enter, please visit www.kiwanisofcoolsprings.org.
The Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place on the steps of City Hall near the Square. The program will air LIVE on WAKM AM-950 and www.wakmworldwide.com. It will also be replayed on Franklin TV and the City’s YouTube channel.
