With more than 25 years of service to the Franklin community, Deputy Chief Chris Gentry leads the Department’s Criminal Investigation & Support Services Division. A graduate of the FBI National Academy, the Senior Management Institute for Police, and the Tennessee Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar, Deputy Chief Gentry serves in the US Army Reserve, he is a veteran of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. He has earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Indiana University and graduate degrees from Tennessee State University in public administration and US Army War College in strategic studies.
Comprised of 16 sworn law enforcement officers, the FPD's Criminal Investigation Division has three sections: Property Crimes, Personal Crimes, and Vice & Narcotics. Franklin Police Detectives are committed to providing citizens with prompt, diligent, and proactive investigations. Specially trained personnel maximize the use of traditional investigative techniques in combination with the most current technological resources available.
