The Office of the Assistant City Recorder provides administrative support to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen and the City Administrator and is directly responsible for:

Board Recording Secretary; Records, transcribes, and maintains all minutes of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen and their committee meetings.

 

Agendas and Minutes
The Assistant City Recorder’s office is responsible for the preparation of the Board’s monthly meeting agendas, and also the Budget and Finance and Capital Improvement Program committee agendas. The Assistant City Recorder posts the Board’s meeting agenda to the City Website on the Wednesday preceding their Tuesday meeting date. Committee agendas are posted one week prior to the committee meeting. The Board Recording Secretary posts a copy of the approved minutes to the website on the day after they are approved at the Board/Committee meeting.

Municipal Code and Records
All official City records, including ordinances, resolutions, and minutes, are maintained in the Administration Department. This office is also responsible for the city’s records management in accordance with the records retention policy of the city, along with federal and state law. In accordance with state law, most records maintained by the City are public records available for review by State of Tennessee residents. Some exceptions include records related to an ongoing criminal investigation or certain personal information in employee files.

Citizens wishing to view or get a copy of a record may contact the Assistant City Recorder. 

The City’s Municipal Code is available on the City’s Website and updated shortly after each Board of Mayor and Aldermen’s meeting to include any new ordinances passed by the Board.

Retail Certificates for Liquor Stores
The Board of Mayor and Aldermen approve the issuance and renewals of all liquor store retail certificates. These are coordinated through the Assistant City Recorder.  Application for Retail Liquor Stores
